There is always help for hopelessI am a 21-year-old mother who is going to college and knows the strain a child can put on a person's life. There are those late nights with a child who does not want to go to sleep, the homework that can't be put off any longer, the housework that needs to be done, and don't forget the bills that have not been paid. It never ends. There is always something that needs to be done. During all of this, I have never thought of drowning my 2-year-old son, locking him in a trunk, or beating him until he could not move, and I have one of the worst tempers in the world. I have been pushed to the limit by him, but always found the strength to control my temper. My friends and family are one of my greatest strengths. They are the ones I go to when I just can't take life anymore. They let me cry on their shoulders and they watch my son for a little while so I can have a break. After I have regained my joy, I am always happy to see my smiling child again. I can't even imagine life without the child who kisses my toe when I stub it, or without the smile that I get when I take him out to play or the sweet innocent face that sleeps just down the hall. If there is anyone out there who doesn't have a friend or family member to talk to, and they just can't take life anymore, there are places you can call like "Helpline." The phone number is 431-5111. These people are trained to help with the smallest and largest of problems. They can give advice on money problems, adoption for an unwanted child, support groups of all types and much more.
