Financial Assistance requested

I would like to do more for the unborn babies,
but I don't know where to start.
My group is very small and it
seems that we don't do much.

Could you give me some tips on what we can do?

Promote the establishment of a registry of girls and women who have had an abortion whether in a hospital, abortuary, doctors office or other facility. Abortion providers should be required to verify information from a drivers's license or an official photo I.D. which includes social security number. This can be proposed at all levels of government. The purpose of the registry would be to develop an impact study regarding the social and economic cost of abortion -- its effects upon society.

There is currently being seen a dramatic upturn in child abuse and child murder. Women are increasingly becoming involved in crimes related to drug and alcohol abuse. Suicides and attempts by girls and women are on the increase. Commonly the aforementioned conditions are not being related to a history of abortion. Car wrecks, slit wrists, anorexia, and drug overdoses are just a few of the ways women kill themselves, and often times others. Society needs to become aware of the tremendous impact that abortion is having. Society needs to be informed about the cause of the escalating financial burden that is being placed upon it through social service and mental health organizations, penal institutions, police, fire and other government financed facilities. This impact often carries into the second and third generations. The sooner Post Abortion Syndrome is recognized for what it is, and for the great financial and social impact it is having, the sooner the corrective process can begin.

Women who have had an abortion go into denial for a period lasting on an average of eight years. Society as a whole is wearing blinders. Only sound verifiable research will open the window of truth in regard to the long term effects of abortion.

Women readily understand and accept that which commonly presents great difficulty to men. Women have both a public and a private face. Their public face can easily say that all is well, while inside they can be seething in relation to their problems and hiding from the world their agony, anger or hatred. By nature these feelings commonly build to a flash point and, in some fashion, have to be released. This release, or explosion, can affect everyone who is in the post abortive woman's immediate environment and, by cost, affects the whole of society. It is considered probable that 25% to 50% of divorces and other family problems -- including those of succeeding generations -- can be attributed to "Post Abortion Syndrome."

Women are physically, mentally, emotionally and motivationally different than men. Men need to learn to appreciate women for what and who they are, while at the same time not attributing to them characteristics which are not inherently their's. In many arguments and disputes either sex is equally apt to be right or wrong. Both sexes have admirable qualities. Both sexes have destructive qualities. A balance must be sought after.

There is increasing awareness that men as well as women suffer form Post Abortion [Trauma] Syndrome. The effects upon society are still an unknown factor. But, since the potential cost to society is so great it ought to be investigated honestly and with an open mind. On this web site is furnished much information concerning women and PAS but little in regard to how men are affected. The following was extracted from a feature article (18 March 1998) in the Birmingham Post-Herald written by William C. Singleton III.

He was a Christian attending a Southern Baptist college. So when Stephen Arterburn got his then-girlfriend pregnant, he pressured her to have an abortion and paid for the procedure.

"I just wanted to get it out of the way, just move on and never think about it again," he said.

What he believed would save his reputation and erase the consequence of his sin did anything but, Arterburn said. "I went through a horrible experience of depression, alienation from God, guilt and shame," he said.

But Arterburn said God has since forgiven and healed him of his part in the abortion, and he now encourages men involved in similar situations to seek forgiveness and healing.

In his speaking tours Arterburn says in relation to PAS, "I have talked to thousands of people who have been devastated by it. At the anniversary of the abortion, they're in tears, they're weeping, they experience the loss and grief."

Even though the male psyche is different from the females, it seems that many of the after effects of abortion are at least similar if not the same for men as those for women. Fatherhood gives more meaning to life and reason for living than is normally acknowledged concerning men.

The mental make-up of men and women is significantly different, a fact which women accept more readily than do men. Affected men are more readily able to focus on other concerns or interests than are women. In women the psyche, her surroundings, her activities, and her memories are immediately perceived. With men this is not commonly true. Each of these categories is compartmentalized. The categories are dealt with individually. The hurt, the ill feelings, the memories, are commonly shunted aside until such time as specifically called to mind, or when the mind comes to rest.

In recent months, as of March 24th, 1998, there have been three major incidents of school age children committing multiple murders against their fellow students at public schools. How many of these have a parent who has been involved with abortion? Are they a product of the cheapening of the value of human life which is being promoted in so many school systems? Have they made the connections which so many adults are in denial about; that human beings exist both before and after birth; that if life is not valued before birth then there is little reason to give it value after birth?

The effect of abortion on men, women, and children and the associated cost to society should be given serious study. Women are not the only ones who suffer the consequences, but they are the ones most immediately affected by the consequences since they often find it impossible to even temporarily shut abhorrent thoughts out of their minds. It is also for this reason that they attempt to deal with their problems sooner – on average after several years of denial.

REFLECTION:  A woman who has had five abortions said that she loves her three-month-old baby more than her own life. She does not understand why she has constant tormenting thoughts of throwing him into the Gulf of Mexico. Before birth, killing this child would have been legal: Why then should we not expect such confusion of thought patterns after abortion; same child, why not kill him now?

QUOTES:
"Somebody...turn down the noise in my mind! I heard babies crying every day even when the children I had were sleeping. The constant desire to have another baby was driving me to the point of obsession. I wanted to conceive again regardless of any consequences - Replace Baby Syndrome - I now understand it fully!" Carol

"ABORTION  SLICES  YOUR  MOTHERHOOD  TO  PIECES,

IT WARPS YOUR VERY REASON FOR BEING A WOMAN."

"No one told me that I would have to cope with the guilt that the only two children I would ever bear - I aborted. That I would have to cope with the guilt that I was responsible for the death of my own children."

"The emotional trauma overwhelmed me when my mind told me that I had lost children, not pieces of tissue, but actual children."

The following information was extracted from a document addressed as follows:

TO: Priests of all Ecclesiastical Titles in the Roman Catholic Church

RE: Admonishment of de Jure Catholic Bishops concerning the Legitimate Defense of the Unborn.

The suggestions can be adapted by any religious leader who recognizes the seriousness of the evil of abortion. A key ingredient to action is the recognition of the importance of activity as portrayed in Matthew 25:45-46: He will answer them, 'Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.' And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life." Reception into eternal life is dependant upon positive activities which are a sign of and product of true faith. Inactive believers (church pew warmers) do not get into Heaven.

The suggestions presented can easily be adjusted to an individuals abilities and desire to serve innocent unborn victims. As one progresses in activity new approaches will suggest themselves. Nothing is accomplished by those who do not make the effort.

16 March 1998

Some of the reasonable means which have always been available to defend the unborn, at least to all free world bishops, are as follows:

  1. The organizing of mass public protests at abortion facilities and/or at government offices.

  2. Personally participating, at least occasionally, in demonstrations at above locations thereby giving strong emphasis to the graveness of the evil and the importance of being active in opposition to the evil.

  3. Openly declaring opposition to public officials running for public office who have supported, to any degree and under any pretext, legalized abortion. This can legally be made known by declaring them morally evil persons, out of grace with God, who cannot under any circumstance be voted for without committing condemnatory sin. People should be castigated for the spiritual sickness of voting because of political affiliation instead of for moral issues following a clearly established priority list. Congregations should be told there is no circumstance in which they can vote for a candidate who favors named moral evils such as abortion and sodomy.

  4. Bishops should publicly excommunicate Church members known to be supportive of murder by abortion and other grave evils.

  5. Bishops should actively encourage Church members to organize campaigns to write to public officials concerning the evil of abortion. Further, he should publish letters in the diocesan newspaper he has written to the media on behalf of the unborn.

  6. He should encourage people of faith to run for public office.

  7. He should encourage people of faith to run for political party district representatives. This is a position for which almost every person has available time.

  8. Encourage members to write letters to the editors of newspapers and magazines. Bishops should write, send, and publish in diocesan newspapers letters they themselves have written.

  9. Encourage members to form private committees for political affairs separate from local churches.

  10. Make known to congregations that it is a serious moral offense to God to buy insurance from companies that will pay for procured abortion, sterilization, or other morally objectionable procedures. Insurance companies should be examined to see if they accept claims which use medical terminology which is or could be deceptive, i.e., was a D&C procedure certified as necessary and not being used for the purpose of an abortion. The fact that a policy is written with an exclusion for abortion, sterilization, etc. is not sufficient reason to deal with them.

  11. Tell members to disassociate from and/or not buy products or services from businesses that are supportive of procured abortion. Names of such businesses should be published in churches within a substantial radius of their location(s).

  12. Make the admonitions of Scripture clear which state that love of God is more important than any human relationship or tax status. Such admonitions should be repeated at regularly established intervals. It should be made clear that while individuals are subject to the just laws of civil governments, there is no requirement which obliges one to freely submit to unjust laws. Further, manifestly unjust or immoral laws are to be opposed by all reasonable means. This could include forfeiture of ones own life under certain circumstances.

  13. Promote the death penalty for certain crimes, including the murder of the innocent unborn, according to the clear command of God in Gen 9:5-6 which is by its nature unchangeable and infallible. This is confirmed in the "Catechism of the Catholic Church." 2. In Acts 25:11, 28:18, and Romans 1:32, Paul, at least indirectly, acknowledged the validity of the death penalty for just reasons.

It should be kept in mind when dealing with people and particularly with congregations that between 20% and 50% of the members have either had an abortion or have directly participated in procured abortion. Additionally it should be remembered that much of the rest of the congregation has either had or approved of abortion through the use of IUD's, birth control pills, and a variety of other chemical substances which at least on occasion cause abortions. Ministers unaware of this fact can create substantial problems with their congregations if they are not prudent in their approach.

The following are additional suggestions for lay people interested in the welfare of the unborn (NOTE: Be sure to check local ordinances in regard to legal public activities. Be sure to get official copies of legal documents. Do not take anyone's word for what can and cannot be done.):

  1. Picket churches particularly in the neighborhoods of abortion facilities.

  2. Design and pass out leaflets at churches which tell of the importance of activity in relation to salvation. ( Would appreciate samples of leaflets that could be posted and used by others. )

  3. Picket abortion clinics.

  4. Participate in public prayer outside of abortuaries.

  5. Pass out leaflets that are made available by many major pro-life organizations.

  6. Participate in sidewalk counseling outside of abortuaries.

  7. Frequently call into radio and television talk shows making prepared statements concerning abortion. (Exodus 1:15-21)

  8. Those who have a van can make large signs for them and then drive through malls, commercial areas, tourist areas, beaches, and other places where messages can be seen by the general public.

  9. Convey the message that God will not do for us what we are expected to do for ourselves and for those around us. Prayer is good in preparation for activity and is good in thanksgiving for God's assistance in our activities. But, do not pray in the belief that God will do for us what has been given over into our charge.

  10. Be active in your congregation and encourage anti-abortion activity by others.

  11. Additional suggestions appreciated. Send by Email or convenient method.

COMMENTS: There are already many crisis pregnancy centers and you are encouraged to become familiar with the ones in your area. These centers do some good, but they also absorb much time, talent and finances which could be better utilized elsewhere.

Operation Rescue (passive resistance) type activities have in the past served useful purposes. Increasingly today such activities lead to arrest, brutality by police officials, fines, incarceration, legal fees, and encourage lawsuits which can be extremely costly and time consuming. Such activities are not recommended.
